1. Who We Are

Sorter AI is a Chrome extension developed and operated by Insorter (insorter.com). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use the Sorter AI extension or this website.

2. Data We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to run the service:

• Email address — collected during sign-up via a one-time password (OTP) sent to your inbox. Used solely for authentication and account identification.
• Scan usage counts — we track how many scans you have used today and in total, to enforce daily limits and paid token balances.
• Payment reference IDs — we store Razorpay payment IDs and timestamps to confirm and credit paid scan purchases. We do not store card numbers or financial credentials.
• Last seen timestamp — recorded on each sign-in to manage inactive accounts.
• Instagram post data — when you run a scan, Sorter AI reads publicly visible post data (likes, comments, post URLs) from the Instagram profile currently on screen. This data is processed locally and in the export results page only. It is not stored on our servers.

We do not collect your Instagram credentials, browsing history, private messages, or any data unrelated to scan usage.

3. Where Data Is Stored

Authentication and usage data is stored in Google Firestore (Firebase), encrypted at rest and in transit. No personal data is sold or shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

• EmailJS — sends OTP verification emails to your inbox. Your email is shared with EmailJS solely for this delivery purpose.
• Google Firebase / Firestore — stores your account data, scan counts, and token balances securely.
• Razorpay — processes payments for scan packs. We do not store payment card details. Razorpay is subject to its own privacy policy.

5. Chrome Extension Permissions

Sorter AI requests the following permissions in your browser:

• activeTab / scripting — to read publicly visible engagement data (likes, comments, post URLs) on Instagram pages you are currently viewing. Only activates when you open the Sorter panel.
• storage — to save your authentication session locally so you remain logged in between browser sessions.
• tabs — to open the payment page and export results page in a new tab.

Sorter AI only activates on https://www.instagram.com/* and does not run on any other website.

6. How We Use Your Data

• To authenticate your account via OTP email
• To enforce daily free scan limits (3 scans/day) and paid token balances
• To confirm payment and credit scan packs to your account
• To display your scan count inside the extension UI

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's core function.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data (email, scan counts) for as long as your account is active. Inactive accounts (no sign-in for 12 months) may be deleted automatically.

8. Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time by emailing team.insorter@gmail.com. We will permanently delete your email and usage data from Firestore within 7 days of your request.

9. Children's Privacy

Sorter AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
